The Hamburg derby is among the fiercest rivalries in German soccer and Monday’s match didn’t disappoint as lovers put on a display.
St Pauli got their first home success since they conquer Hamburg 2-0 at the Bundesliga 2 in Millerntor-Stadion.
The win also denied Hamburg the opportunity to return to the league’s peak.
“That is magnificent, the folks are celebrating,” said St Pauli manager Jos Luhukay following the 102nd derby.
“The team and the players deserve , we won three things at a derby, which goes down in history.”
Dimitrios Diamantakos scored for the hosts prior to a purpose by Rick van Drongelen doubled their lead.
Under a police escort, 3,000 Hamburg fans marched before the game.
While there were protests against the game, The two sets of fans put off pyrotechnics inducing the start of the second half to be postponed.
